From November the 21st to November the 25th 2022 the Theresan Military Academy in Austria hosted the common module ‘’Gender Perspectives in Security and Defense’’,
under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and in which the following cadets of our Academy took part:
a. 4th year Cadet (ECON) Lazaridis Sokratis
b. 4th year Cadet (ECON) Tsamadia Maria
The topics of this training activity concerned the strategic decisions and operational benefits of mixed teams as well as the management / prevention /
response against sexual violence and sexual harassment.
Specifically, during the first two days (Monday and Tuesday) all aspects of the subject under consideration were analyzed extensively and thoroughly,
thus creating a necessary theoretical background for the resolution of case studies. Noteworthy is the fact of the meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Austria,
Her Excellency Mrs. Victoria Reggie Kennedy, on the second day, with whom there was a very interesting and constructive discussion. Then, over the next two days
(Wednesday and Thursday) the briefing continued, and the participants dealt more intensively with group work on sophisticated topics.
Finally, on Friday the participants received the final instructions and advice regarding the lessons of the weekly educational activity. At the end of the conference,
as part of a small closing ceremony, the students were given the diplomas of successful participation as well as souvenirs so that they could remember this unique experience.
