Battalion Commander

Lieutenant Colonel Ioannis Nasios was born in 1973 in Volos. He was admitted to the Hellenic Military Academy in 1993 and graduated in 1997 as infantry Second Lieutenant.

As a Junior Officer he was assigned as Platoon Leader and Company Commander to Infantry Battalions (523rd Infantry Battalion, 512th, 516th and 525th Mechanized Infantry Battalions), as well as an instructor at the Hellenic Military Academy and at the Hellenic Military School of Combat Support Officers.

During his career as a senior Officer, he served as Deputy Commander of the 506th Mechanised Infantry Battalion, as a Planning officer at the neuralgic Synchronization and Execution Section (J35) of NATO Rapid Deployed Corp (NRDC -T) in Istanbul, Turkey, as director of G4 brunch of 41st Infantry Regiment in Samothrace and as a Commander of 526th Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Alexandroupoli.

Military education includes the basic, the advance courses of the infantry School in Chalkida, the CBRN Captain’s Career Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (MO)– USA (2009), the Staff College in Thessaloniki (2011) and the Supreme Joint War College, Thessaloniki (2014).

He holds a bachelor degree in Economic Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a master degree in Strategic Studies and International Politics of the Macedonia University of Thessaloniki and a master degree in Environmental, Disasters and Crises Management Strategies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

During his career, he has been awarded with several medals and honourable distinctions. He speaks English, German, Italian and Turkish. He is married to Bikidou Chrysa, and he has one child Konstantina - Spyridoula (6 years Old).
